The Star quiet on MCA anger

Surprisingly, The Star (owned by ) did not publish anything yet on the protest by Youth over statement by Bukit Bendera UMNO division head, Ahmad Ismail who said the Chinese were “squatters” during a ceramah for Permatang Pauh by-election.

youth says:

Since independence, Malaysians have worked hard to stay together as one to build the country. But now, just days ahead of Merdeka celebrations, such comments are being made. We are very disappointed, Youth leader Hang Cheng Peng told reporters.

They demand an immediate apology and explanation:

Youth has submitted a letter yesterday demanding an open apology,
retraction and a promise not to make similar statements in the future.

Youth KL launched signature campaign to condemn Ahmad which a Deputy Minister also signed (Wee Ka Siong - going for election soon).

also do not intend to be quiet. Its Penang Youth member issued press statement asking Prime Minister and Deputy to take action (maybe he is joking!)

Note that only those “youth” fellas are making a fuss.

Anyway, this made me think. If Chinese are squatters, then Indians are…?

Renovation problem continued

While my grilles have been giving me a headache for last one week, the “borders” of windows, door and exterior wall is bugging me for weeks. They can’t make a straight, clean-cut border. Instead I get lop-sided, uneven and mismatched shapes that makes things look worse.

Then, I have a space for washing machine which may not fit my washing machine. They never allocated space for the piping (outlet) and now I’ll have the outlet jutting out (if ever it can fit there in the first place). May have to sacrifice the wooden door to extend the washing machine space.

Of course it won’t be fair if I say all their work was bad. There are some plus points which will be posted after this. Need to take the pictures, not that there’s many of them.

The contractors says will try to fix some of the problems on Friday, but I doubt they’ll do a proper job.

A Record for ACA

55 people arrested in 24 hours. The scandal in Puskapom is probably tip of the iceberg.

A total of 55 people, including 28 Puspakom staff, believed to be earning up to an additional RM1,000 each a day “in takings,” have been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) in a nationwide blitz between Tuesday and Wednesday.

The other 27 are agents or runners who are allegedly in cohorts with the centre’s traffic wardens and vehicle examiners, who allegedly carry out inspections on “problematic” vehicles without following standard operating procedures.

They also allegedly approved tests on vehicles without actually sending them for inspection.

ACA director of investigations Datuk Shukri Abdull said the agency had conducted an “intelligence-based investigation” for months, which had intensified over the past two months and led to the arrests.

Codenamed “Ops Compact,” Shukri said based on investigations, it was believed the culprits charged vehicle owners RM80 to give the thumbs-up when inspecting problematic cars; it cost RM400 to “pass” a vehicle’s inspection without it having to be sent to Puspakom.

“We are still investigating and we believe there will be more arrests made against those involved in this illegal operation,” he told a press conference on Wednesday.

The nationwide blitz began at 3pm on Tuesday and the last arrest was made at 2pm Wednesday.
