Cuepacs has been trying to arrange meetings since last September. But they were being pushed from PM to KSN and back few times without any proper response. When they threatened to Worker Day celebration…voila..meeting arranged within days! Now, if we are expected to belief that things are worked out “behind closed door” , shrouded in secrecy, this is not a good example. If MIC/MCA start to follow Cuepacs style, then we can see better response.

PUTRAJAYA: The country’s more than one million civil servants can expect a decision from the Government on Thursday on various issues ranging from the payment of a RM2,000 honorarium and the scrapping of the Efficiency Level Assessment (PTK) test for senior officers.

Cuepacs president Omar Osman said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was expected to announce the decision at his meeting with them then.

“We received a letter from the Government informing us of the meeting. We hope to hear some good news on the various issues we have raised in our memorandum,” he told reporters after a two-hour meeting with the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Sidek Hassan here yesterday.

Omar said Cuepacs members would also be briefed about the PTK by the Public Service Department on Friday.

Asked if this meant that Cuepacs would not be boycotting the Workers Day event on May 3, Omar said the congress would be holding a meeting on Friday to discuss the issue.
