If all the money collected for MAIKA holding had been properly invested and managed by technocrats (there are hundreds of young brilliant young men and women amongst Malaysian Indians) we need not be in a state that we are in now! We have to literally beg the government for help. The money invested in MAIKA should have grown to several billion ringgit by now and we should have been self sufficient to educate our bright ones in the best tertiary institutions in the world!

I am still in the dark about the South Indian Labour Fund. What actually happened to the money? Where has the money gone? Have "our" politicians swallowed it? I would really appreciate it if there is someone out there to shed some light on this matter - I am sure there are many in the community who are not even aware of something called the South Indian Labour Fund! I am sure that there must have been a substantial amount or sufficient assets that could help a lot of our young ones. This money was from the blood sweat and tears of our forefathers who came into Malaya which was full of malaria and other infectious diseases and developed the rubber estates, tea estates and tin mines.

The other thing that troubles me is the rumour that the Medical College in Kedah belongs to a few shareholders and not to a Trust Fund held on behalf of the Indians in Malaysia. It will be nice if someone can shed some light into this matter too. Does anyone know anything at all on the ownership of the Medical College in Kedah!?

And what about the NLFCS! How many estates are left? What has happened to all the money that must have been obtained selling the numerous estates? Where was the money invested? How much is left in the kitty? I was told by a source that it is difficult to become a member of the NLFCS let alone go to one of their AGMs and put up proper questions.
Maybe the source is a disgruntled person but certainly I would like to know from people who have some knowledge of the inside of the NLFCS to shed some light.

Most of our young people are descendants of estate workers who put up !0 ringgit a month ( very big money in the early sixties) to help buy the estates when the White man left Malaya. The were inspired by selfless people like Tun VT Sambanthan and Tunku Abudul Rahman. Has that institution too become the fiefdom of a few!? I am asking these questions (perhaps in ignorance) but some answers from anyone who knows about these matters will help set the record straight. Maybe it is time the young Malaysian Indians swelled up and become members of the NLFCS and take over the running of it and see if they can run the NLFCS better! The selfless people who took care of the NLFCS all these years can now retire and help these young people do it! WHY NOT!?
