I’m sure many of us have received SMSes on help for the indian community to get their birth certificates and ICs. Suddenly, we read MIC youth and their tour. Want to know the truth? Wait for it next week.

The MIC Youth kicks off a nationwide tour today to explain to the Indian community the importance of getting birth certificates and identity cards. ts social and welfare bureau chief, T. Mohan, said the tour is to assist Indians who do not have the two crucial documents. He said they would be given information and explanation on the procedures to obtain the documents.

“We will give information on what are the forms to be filled to obtain birth certificates and identity cards. We will also tackle the cases of Indians with permanent resident status who have not been granted citizenship due to technical problems in their applications,” he told Bernama. It was reported that some 40,000 Indians had yet to apply for birth certificates and identity cards. he MIC Youth, he said, had formed a task force to address these problems and its members would begin the tour in Kuala Lumpur today.

They will be in Selangor on Feb 7, Kedah and Penang (Feb 8), Perak (Feb 9) and in Johor, Malacca and Negri Sembilan on Feb 10. Interested parties can contact 019-3223000 or 019-2119547 for further information.
