Indian population dwindling

Make babies, not war :) Hmm…you have to get married first of course!

Its not easy to raise kids nowadays. We hear stories of our parents or grandparents raising 6 or 10 children those days, but now, raising 2 children itself is a challenge due to high cost of living.

Coupled with entry of women into workforce and higher literacy rate for women, the marrying age is getting higher and higher. Marriage at age of 16 or 20 is history. Now, marriage ideas start blooming at late 20s or even early 30s. The, there’s wedding cost to think of. I doubt that a relatively simple Indian wedding can be done within 20K budget per bride/groom.

Other communities also face this problem, especially the Chinese. Some chinese guilds are offering incentives for couples to get married.

The Malays are still doing well, due to government support, larger population, polygamy, and also support for single mothers.

I don’t suppose can start some of incentive, can they? :)

THE Indian population is on the decline and action must be taken to stop this, president Datuk Seri S. said, in a Tamil Nesan front-page report.

He said the current Indian population stood at 7.8% and this was expected to fall to 7% in five years.

was speaking to reporters after opening Pahang ’s 62nd annual delegates conference in a hotel in Genting Highlands yesterday.

He said currently, the Government gave allocations based on the population of the Indian community.

This is a problem not just facing us but also the Chinese. In fact they are in a more risky position than us. The problem is due to higher level of education, cultural, and other factors Indians and Chinese no longer opt for bigger families. On the otherhand the bumis tend to have much bigger families, especially those residing in the rural areas.

I think MCA,DAP and some Chinese NGOs also expressed such fears and even offered some incentives for bigger families. However all these likely to fail and non bumi population will fall for sure.

As such, we need to work on long term strategy that no one is looking at currently. The strategic implications are very far reaching and serious. I had advocated some measures in here but seems it has fallen on deaf ears as usual among our Indians.

Anyway, my prediction is by the next GE or latest by 14 GE, the population of Malays will outnumber Chinese in Penang. As such Lim Guan Eng could be the last Chinese CM in Malaysian history doesnt matter who wins the state. There is no way PKR and PAS will allow DAP to take the CM post if the Malays outnumber Chinese….
