MIC boss presented loan to 109 successful applicants of TEKUN fund. The amount was not mentioned. Anyway, according to the deputy minister, there’s still RM30 million left.

Samy Vellu also said that many Indian entrepreneurs had difficulty obtaining loans from commercial banks, although they were qualified, and that this matter has been brought to the attention of PM:

MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said the matter had been brought to the attention of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak during the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Indian Affairs recently.

“We have also asked the Finance Ministry to review the conditions for granting loans to make it more flexible,” he told reporters after handing over loan cheques from the National Tekun Foundation to 109 Indian entrepreneurs here yesterday.

    Hi guna,

You need to register a company first. Then prepare proposal, company profile etc. you should also attend entrepreneur courses offered by government departments so that you have some certificates. age isn’t a barrier, but i think your lack preparation will be a problem. for agriculture related business i suggest you visit http://www.agribdc.gov.my and if possible visit their center in putrajaya to meet the officers.

    Hi Mr Thomas,

By right, MIC should be able to help with the application since there’s a lot of balance left from the 36 million allocated for Indians. There’s 20 million allocated for this year as well, but I think the money would be available after mid February. You should approach MIC or YSS.

    Hi Remona,

You need to clarify how “not do so well” is. Generally, if you have 3 credits in any subjects (preferably english and math included), you can enrol for a diploma program. so, you can easily enrol for diploma now, instead of later in life, if you have 3 credits. if you don’t have 3 credits, but have at least 1 credit, then you enrol for a certificate in business studies. after finishing certificate, you can continue in diploma. so, again, no reason to wait.

as for where, i suggest you find one near your location (home town) area to reduce cost. however, if the options are not many near your home, then you may have to head towards Klang Valley where many colleges offer diploma in business admin. Remember, you must check if the diploma/cert is MQA recognised. MQA is the govt agency in charge of ensuring quality of the courses. Only MQA recognised courses are given PTPTN loan. Note that PTPTN has its own rules, among which you MUST HAVE 3 credits in SPM (any subjects).

    HI Pooranaselvan,

you have to visit MIC office and get the forms from them. Best if you visit the Malacca HQ or go to KL HQ.
