Support BN for bigger voice, Indians told
BUTTERWORTH: Indian voters have been reminded to return the mandate to BN candidates from the community so that they would be well represented in the government.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said without strong representation at both the state and federal levels, the Indian community would be left out as their voice would be limited.
He told a gathering of local community leaders here yesterday that Indian voters must choose wisely to decide their future — whether to work within the current system or be against it.
Present were Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, Bagan Dalam candidate P.K. Subbaiyah and BN candidates for the Bagan parliamentary constituency.
Najib said Subbaiyah needed victory to keep on representing them in the Penang government. “Being a state exco member during the last term, Subbaiyah has spoken up for the interests of Indians in the state government.”
