He may deny it, but the reports given by those who visited Uthaya points to the contrary. It would be of best interest if the doctors provide some medical reports and a second opinion is obtained from a different panel of doctors.

Syed Hamid: Detainees not denied medical attention

TAIPING: There is no truth in the claims that Internal Security Act (ISA) detainees at the Kamunting detention centre were being deprived of proper medical attention, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar.

“We give priority to all detainees, and those with medical problems will get the best medical facilities.

I give my assurance that they will never be denied nor deprived of their right to receive proper medical treatment,” he said, commenting on the police report lodged by K. Kalaivanity, the mother of ISA detainee P. Uthayakumar, that her diabetic son had been denied proper medical treatment. Kalaivanity, 64, also claimed in her report lodged in Seremban on Saturday that there was a “silent agenda” to inflict harm on her son’s health.

Syed Hamid denied there was any agenda to inflict harm on Uthayakumar’s health.”If they (detainees) need specialists, we give them specialists, if they need ordinary doctors, we give them such doctors and if they need medication, we give it to them,” he said.

looks like he got frightened after Makkal lodged reports nationwide .
That’s why we always stress that one must demand for justice in order for it to be served . Merely waiting for ‘natural’ change is not workable in politics .
This is what differs Hindraf and those Indians BN parties which merely claimed to be championing the community .
