{"id":1196,"date":"2008-01-26T22:13:26","date_gmt":"2008-01-26T14:13:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/poobalan.com\/blog\/indian\/2008\/01\/26\/55000-indians-benefited-from-ptptn\/"},"modified":"2008-01-26T22:13:26","modified_gmt":"2008-01-26T14:13:26","slug":"55000-indians-benefited-from-ptptn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/poobalan.com\/blog\/indian\/2008\/01\/26\/55000-indians-benefited-from-ptptn\/","title":{"rendered":"55,000 Indians benefited from PTPTN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ong: 55,000 Indians benefited from PTPTN<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestar.com.my\/news\/story.asp?file=\/2008\/1\/26\/nation\/20133750&amp;sec=nation\" target=\"_blank\">source<\/a><\/p>\n<p>MORE than 50,000 Indian students have benefited from the National Higher  Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), <em>Malaysia Nanban<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Minister of Higher Education Ministry Datuk Ong Tee Kiat said 55,055  Indian students have borrowed from the fund.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the amount given to the Indian students represented 6.4% of  total loans given.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the Hope Foundation was established last January to help  students who had failed to gain places in government universities by getting  them places in, and funds for, private universities.<\/p>\n<p>Ong said the foundation had made arrangements with 11 private universities to  provide places for such students.
