\n KUALA LUMPUR: The policeman at the counter was not helpful or friendly. But there’s no need to write a letter to Bukit Aman.
\n Simply log on to the re-designed police website at www.rmp.gov.my and click on “e-Aduan”.
\nAnd action will be taken within two weeks.
\nThe public can now air their grouses about police services online, with the assurance that their complaint or query will be acted on promptly.
\nAnother addition to the website is the link “sebut harga”, which provides a list of tenders being offered for contracts to upgrade police facilities nationwide. Federal public affairs assistant director ACP Ahmad Shamsuri Ahmad Mukri said both these features were incorporated into the revamped website, which was launched on March 24, a day before the 200th anniversary celebration of the police force.
\n“This is in line with the force’s new vision and mission,” he said.
\n“It has been re-designed to be more interactive, offering public access to important or the latest information on police services.”
\nHe said with “e-Aduan” the public need not write letters to complain about rude police officers at counters, lack of traffic personnel or to give tip-offs.
\nThe earlier method was time-consuming as letters had to be re-directed to the various departments. This resulted in a slow response to queries and complaints.
\nWith the new online feature, Ahmad Shamsuri said they would be able to act on a daily basis and get the response from the relevant departments within two weeks.
\nHe said since the re-designed website was launched four weeks ago, the department had received 90 complaints.
\nOn the “sebut harga” link, Ahmad Shamsuri said that previously tender awards were posted at the respective district police headquarters or state police contingents.
\n“Contractors need not come to check if there are any tenders on offer. They can check the website and get the forms later.”
\nHowever, he pointed out that these new links were not the avenue to lodge complaints on corruption or misconduct of policemen.
