TAIPING: Let bygones be bygones – this was the message being conveyed via a handshake between Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohd Tajol Rosli Ghazali and incumbent Taiping MP Datuk M. Kayveas.<\/p>\n

The gesture marked an end to the reported hostilities between the two, who had been at loggerheads following the move to allow the PPP president to re-contest the Taiping parliamentary seat traditionally held by Gerakan.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred at a press conference after Tajol Rosli performed a ground-breaking ceremony for a RM180mil magnesium smelting plant at the Kamunting Raya industrial zone here yesterday.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Tajol Rosli told the gathering that a vote for Kayveas in this election meant a vote for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and him (Tajol Rosli).<\/p>\n

“If Kayveas loses, it is also a loss to Datuk Seri Abdullah and me,” he added.<\/p>\n

Tajol Rosli said he knew that Taiping Gerakan Youth leaders and members were angered by the decision to allow Kayveas to re-contest here.<\/p>\n

“I salute them because they have the courage to fight for and defend their (Wanita) leader (Datuk Tan Lian Hoe) but when their delegation came to see me, I advised them to go back to Taiping to ensure Kayveas wins this election,” said Tajol Rosli.<\/p>\n

Tajol Rosli said Kayveas would get his own parliamentary seat<\/span> when a re-delineation exercise is done in 2010 or 2011. “So, if Kayveas wins or loses the Taiping seat this time, the seat will be given back to Gerakan,” he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
