Selangor DAP expects four exco positions<\/p>\n

THE Selangor DAP says with all fairness it is expecting to get at least four executive council posts in the state government<\/span>.<\/p>\n

State party chairman Ean Yong Hian Wah said nothing had been finalised and the central executive committee (CEC) would be meeting within the next few days to draw up a proposal. “It is still in the discussion stage but we hope to get four executive council posts out of ten,” he said.Ean Yong, who won the Seri Kembangan state seat, said that even as the state party chief, he was not guaranteed a position.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Again HINDRAF is demanding for Deputy CM <\/a>post here. This demand is now being shared by the community who feels that since they voted in full support of the opposition parties, the new governments must do something in return.<\/p>\n

SHAH ALAM: The new Selangor administration will only be known in a few days as Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah wants to see a strong coalition.<\/p>\n

Mentri Besar-designate Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said the Sultan of Selangor said this to him during his more than an hour-long audience<\/span> with the Ruler that began at 4.38pm at Istana Bukit Kayangan in Section 12 here.<\/p>\n

He said a representative each from the DAP and PAS would meet the Sultan separately tomorrow<\/span>. “Sultan Sharafuddin wants to meet the representatives face to face, listen to their views, and offer his adv<\/span>ice,” he said.<\/p>\n

Khalid, who is PKR secretary-general, added that the Sultan would also listen to the views of the royal adviser and a state official<\/span> before giving his blessing to the formation of a strong coalition government.<\/p>\n

“Sultan Sharafuddin is concerned with the current state of affairs and wants to see good governance. I wholeheartedly agree with his advice on meeting the representatives and on the appointment of the Mentri Besar, as it is in the best interest of the state and the rakyat in Selangor,” he said.<\/p>\n

Khalid, who won the Ijok state seat, added that the tentative list of names of state executive councillors would also be handed to the Sultan for his approval after the appointment of the Mentri Besar<\/span>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Likely line-up for Selangor exco<\/p>\n

REFLECTING its seriousness in pursuing fair representation of the various communities, the new Selangor exco line-up led by Mentri Besar-designate Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim will feature PKR taking five posts, DAP holding four and the remaining two posts going to PAS<\/span>.<\/p>\n

In the recent election, PKR, DAP and PAS won a total of 36 state seats in Selangor while Barisan Nasional managed only 20 seats. …<\/p>\n

Sources told StarMetro that apart from Khalid, the assemblymen likely to be made exco members from PKR are Mohd Azmin Ali (Bukit Antarabangsa), Dr Xavier Jayakumar (Sri Andalas)<\/span> and Lee Kim Sin (Kajang).<\/p>\n

Dr Mohd Nasir Hashim, the protem chairman of Parti Sosialis Malaysia who won at Kota Damansara on a PKR ticket, is also likely to be made an exco member.<\/p>\n

“We have to show what power-sharing is all about<\/span> and the exco line-up, apart from ensuring that the various parties are represented, must also ensure we appoint the best people for the various portfolios<\/span>,” said the Selangor PKR leader when contacted.<\/p>\n

It is learnt that DAP strongman and former Opposition leader Teng Chang Khim (Sungai Pinang) would likely be left out of the exco line-up as certain quarters feel he may not be an effective team player<\/span>.<\/p>\n

State DAP chairman Ean Yong Hian Woh<\/span> said apart from seeking four state exco positions<\/strong><\/span>, the party would also seek to have one of its exco members appointed Deputy Mentri Besar<\/strong><\/span>. “It is a fair request given the fact that DAP won 13 seats,” said Yong, the assemblyman for Seri Kembangan, who is also tipped to be made an exco member. Other assemblymen from DAP strongly tipped to become exco members are Ronnie Liu (Pandamaran), Teresa Kok (Kinrara) and Lau Weng San (Kampung Tunku).<\/span><\/p>\n

According to a state PAS leader, the frontrunners from the party for the two exco posts are Datuk Dr Mohd Hasan Ali (Gombak Setia) and Dr Shafie Abu Bakar (Kajang).<\/span> Other contenders from PAS for the exco posts include Saari Sungib (Hulu Klang), Iskandar Abdul Samad (Chempaka) and Dr Halimah Ali (Selat Klang).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
