In fact, we want the police to charge those involved in theft. A blanket freeze has caused many families to suffer,&#8221; he said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Rajagopalu said a widow with four children who wanted to continue her husband&#8217;s scrap metal business was among those denied a licence to operate the business.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said the issuance of new licences was frozen due to the unusually high number of metal thefts.<\/p>\n<p>Rajagopalu said genuine dealers should not be punished for the wrongdoings of a few. &#8220;Even unemployed graduates had had their applications for licences rejected.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MIC: Lift freeze on scrap metal licences source SEREMBAN: Police should lift the freeze on the issuance of licences for scrap metal dealers, said state MIC chairman Datuk T Rajagopalu.
