I guess another one of MIC&#8217;s achievement. And the MIC bloke from Kuala Langat got the guts to ask us what <a href=\"http:\/\/poobalan.com\/blog\/indian\/2008\/03\/27\/mic-youth-to-win-back-selangor\/\">they have not done for the community<\/a>! I would not be surprised if the temple was demolished if Khir Toyo was still in charge after March 8.<\/p>\n<p>And the Indian community, having shown the door to MIC, is still approaching Indian EXCO to solve problems instead of the EXCO in charge of the problem area. Perhaps the community is still shackled with the racial chain deeply ingrained in them by years of racial politics. OR the just feel that only another Indian can understand their problems.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thestar.com.my\/metro\/story.asp?file=\/2008\/3\/28\/central\/20762645&amp;sec=central\" target=\"_blank\">source<\/a><br \/>\nEarlier, Xavier and Shah Alam MP Khalid Abdul Samad visited the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Section 11, Shah Alam to meet with the temple committee over the issue of its current location.<\/p>\n<p>Sri Maha Mariamman Temple chairman M. Muniandy said the <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>temple had been at its current location for the past 125 years<\/strong><\/span> and had served the early plantation workers brought in from India by the British government.<\/p>\n<p>He said <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">in the 60s<\/span><\/strong>, the <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Selangor government decided to develop the estate through the Selangor Development Corporation (PKNS)<\/span><\/strong> and the <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">committee had been applying for the land since<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But the <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">land was instead alienated to the school next to our temple<\/span><\/strong> and we have been <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">repeatedly asked to move without any alternative plot of land being given<\/span><\/strong> to us,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Xavier said the <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">state could not settle the land issue as it was under the Education Ministry<\/span><\/strong> but would write a letter supporting the temple&#8217;s request for the land.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If that fails then we will <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">try to find an alternative site that is close enough<\/span><\/strong> for the devotees go to as this is the <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>only temple serving Hindus from Section 3 to 7 in Shah Alam<\/strong><\/span>,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have only been in office (as an exco member) a few days but <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">my phone has not stopped ringing<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"> and I have been listening to many issues affecting the Indian community<\/span><\/strong>,&#8221; he said, adding that the <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">community turned to him because he was the only Indian representative<\/span><\/strong> in the state executive council.<\/p>\n<p>He said solving the problems was among his main priorities and the people should start <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">seeing some results within the next 100 days<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This temple in Shah Alam has been applying for land the last 40 years and nothing happened.
