But since it is restricted by BN-style ruling, it suffered. The best is for PPP to merge with Gerakan, and both move to PKR or DAP. They may sacrifice their position in BN, but at least they will be able champion their principles freely.

As for being vocal, PPP can start by doing what Samy Vellu just did– ask to release the HINDRAF 5! Josephine Anne said the party needed the two posts to have adequate representation for its members. “We will be sending a letter to BN chairman Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi regarding this issue,” she said in an interview after the wing’s joint executive council meeting with PPP Puteri.

The allocation of seats and posts has always been a sore point for the PPP, which has some 600,000 members. In the recent general election, the party was given two seats to contest but lost both contests for the Taiping parliamentary and Pasir Bedamar state seats.

Josephine Anne added that given the outcome of the general election, the BN top leadership should seriously ponder PPP’s place in the coalition.”BN must decide if it wants PPP in its fold as we have once again been cast aside by the leadership.

“Our members feel hurt and disillusioned. We are, after all, a component and founding member of BN. “It’s unfortunate that even with these many members, we have no chance to be represented in the cabinet or the senate.”

She said many of the issues brought up by the opposition were covered in the PPP’s manifesto. PPP had always been a multiracial party fighting for Bangsa Malaysia, she said.”Multiracialism is what the people want to see in Malaysia, with better representation for all races in Malaysia without jeopardising the special position of Malays as enshrined in the Constitution.”

She said the party would now be “very vocal”. “In the past, we did much work but most of it was in the background and not highlighted. “We plan to step up our community work and get media coverage for it. We will also set up blogs since this is one of the most effective media today.”

Some of the issues PPP would focus on, she said, were local government issues, such as support for local government elections.

Well, PPP is starting its demands again now.
