The new minister Murugiah announces something interesting – a foundation for tamil schools. Not to be confused with Tamil Foundation. The Tamil School Foundation (TSF)\u00a0 will “look into the welfare and maintenance” of the 523 schools. Many questions arises from this statement:<\/p>\n
– why are the public expected to use their money when its the responsibility of the government to “look into welfare and maintenance” of the schools? Unless of course, this is a supportive body and not meant to relieve the relevant bodies of their responsibilities<\/p>\n
–\u00a0 Would the foundation come under any particular authorities or be an NGO kind of entity?<\/p>\n
– is it a registered body?<\/p>\n
– Why not use existing channels like EWRF, Tamil Foundation, PTAs, Tamil School Headmasters Association, etc?<\/p>\n
I guess we have to wait for more details, but hopefully it will answer the questions above. Of course, there’s still the question on who will handle the money. We’ll leave it for another day.<\/p>\n
Murugiah also announced plans to create a public complaints bureau in the schools. But not sure where the 5 members will come from, while another is from the PTA.<\/p>\n
A TAMIL Schools Foundation (TSF) will be formed to look into the welfare and maintenance of the 523 Tamil schools in the country, reported Malaysia Nanban.<\/p>\n
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department T. Murugiah, in announcing this, said a public complaints bureau would also be formed in each school, comprising five members and including a representative from the Parent Teachers Association (PTA).<\/p>\n
He said this after visiting the New Connaught Tamil School in Bagan Dato on Sunday.<\/p>\n
He said the TSF would not affect the role played by the PTAs in each school, adding that the national-level foundation would actively involve successful businessmen and community leaders to look into the growth of the Tamil schools and welfare of students.<\/p>\n
He said the success of Tamil schools depended on the cooperation between the schools and PTA committees in organising various activities for students.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
