Cameron Highlands beckoned again. I was there <\/a>in early April and managed to visit Sungai Palas Boh Tea Centre<\/a>. Last week, I had more time to go around since it was a mini vacation. Then<\/a> wanted to get her hands on strawberry milkshake, so off we went to Cameron Highlands.<\/p>\n

As usual, I took the Simpang Pulai exit. Its about 50++km from the toll exit to Equatorial, and takes slightly more than an hour’s drive.<\/p>\n

Our first stop was just before Equatorial Hotel. We stopped at Cameron Valley Tea Shop. I had tea (RM3!) and we took some pictures of the tea plantation there. Nothing great there. The lady at the counter was not cheerful nor tourist-friendly enough (err…maybe we didn’t look like one!). All my questions received one line answers. Perhaps need to send them for training – how to promote the business and Cameron Highlands.<\/p>\n

At Cameron Valley Te Shop and Plantation<\/strong><\/p>\n

We checked in at Brinchang, and then went to Ye Olde Smokehouse (aka Smokehouse Hotel). Then<\/a> was gushing about the place. It seems they had great food. The place is an old building (1937) and is being run as a hotel and fine dining restaurant. Then had the tea package. Coffee (exchanged the POT of tea for a CUP of freshly brewed coffee), 2 scones and a piece of cake costs RM37! That’s the most expensive tea time ever for one person. Probably we paid for the English countryside environment rather than the food. The taste? Tasted normal to me. I entertained myself with a small bird who flew in for a piece of the action (it loved the cake). We also went around the rooms and garden. The honeymoon suite is like RM500 or so per night. Cheapest room is Rm400, I think. Spent about an hour there.<\/p>\n

Dinner was at Tanah Rata, one of the shops next to AMBank. Actually both the shops sandwiching AmBank had the same type of menu, I wondered if they have the same owner!. The place was frequented by foreign tourists. Food was OK. I had venison friend mee, while Then had tom yam. Price was OK too. Came to about RM15 for both of us (including a pot of green tea).<\/p>\n

We headed back to the hotel at about 9pm, and watched Cinemax for a while. It was freezing cold outside. Day one ended quite satisfactorily.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
