Samy Vellu bid farewell to his younger brother Datuk S. Palani Vellu, 68, who died of a heart attack on Wednesday. Family members said the siblings were close, meeting as often as possible and Palani, a lawyer, also handled some of the works minister\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s legal matters.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Samy Vellu was devastated by the loss of his brother, and yesterday broke down several times when he saw the body of Palani in the coffin.<\/p>\n<p>Palani is survived by two sons S.P. Muthuveloo, 36, a lawyer, and Dr S.P. Sakthiveloo, 33; and daughter Dr S.P. Sivaghami, 29. His wife died four years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Palani, who was also the legal adviser to MIC Selangor, had complained of chest pains at 6am and was rushed to Tawakal Hospital where he died at 8pm with Samy Vellu by his side.<br \/>\nThose who paid their last respects were former MIC deputy president Datuk S.
