{"id":4475,"date":"2009-04-23T10:29:33","date_gmt":"2009-04-23T02:29:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/poobalan.com\/blog\/?p=4475"},"modified":"2009-04-23T10:29:33","modified_gmt":"2009-04-23T02:29:33","slug":"tamil-news-airtime-to-remain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/poobalan.com\/blog\/borninmalaysia\/2009\/04\/23\/tamil-news-airtime-to-remain\/","title":{"rendered":"Tamil news airtime to remain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Well, after MIC fellas submitted memorandum and made some complaints, as well as MCA, the Minister announced that the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestar.com.my\/news\/story.asp?file=\/2009\/4\/23\/nation\/3754761&amp;sec=nation\" target=\"_blank\"> time would not be changed<\/a>.\u00a0 So from May 1st, Tamil and Mandarin news will revert back to the original time:<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div id=\"adwrapper\">The Tamil news will be moved back to the 7.30pm slot from May 1 but on TV2 instead of TV1 previously.Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said TV1 had to respect the national policy, which emphasised the national language.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore at 8pm, we will air national news, important events and news from Sabah and Sarawak.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll also air a little bit of foreign news (in Malay),\u201d he told reporters after a handing-over ceremony of the new ministry by former Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal at the Sultan Abdul Samad Building here yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Rais said the initial change of the Tamil news from 7.30pm to 6pm was part of the ministry\u2019s process to refine the timing of slots for all news.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrently, the change of the Mandarin news time slot is from 8pm to 6.30pm on TV2 and Tamil @ 2 news from its original 7.30pm to 6pm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTamil @ 2 news will revert to 7.30pm on May 1,\u201d he said, adding that the ministry would also study whether the English and Mandarin news should be slotted for 8.30pm or within the nearest time to 8pm.<\/p>\n<p>Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr S.
