Is our performance so good that we are no longer worthy of complaint?&#8221; asked the newly appointed chairman of the committee, Datuk Dr Wan Hashim Wan Teh, yesterday. <\/p>\n<p>He said the public could complain to the committee about the performance or &#8220;anything which they felt was not right&#8221; about MPs or assemblymen. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If the MP is not accessible, then they can bring it up with the committee,&#8221; added Hashim, who is the MP for Grik. <\/p>\n<p>He said MPs and assemblymen were part of the leadership and they were required to be accountable in the way they conducted themselves. <\/p>\n<p>The select committee was formed to come up with proposals and help translate the National Integrity Plan into action.<\/p>\n<p>Hashim said the public could take their complaints to public hearings to be conducted by the Integrity Committee or write in with their complaints. <\/p>\n<p>The hearings are in Johor on Aug 8, Malacca (Aug 9), Terengganu (Aug 12), Perak (Aug 15) and Kedah (Aug 16). <\/p>\n<p>Hashim chaired his first meeting yesterday after taking over from Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, who had resigned over differences on how the committee should carry out its job. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>source KUALA LUMPUR: People who think their elected representatives lack integrity or are involved in dubious practices are advised to take this up with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Integrity. &#8220;I have always wondered about this aspect of MPs and state assemblymen.
