Selvarajoo, international coordinator for the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (Gopio), said that a dinner to raise funds for the Sri Lankan Tamils has been fixed for June 19.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe have already found sponsors for the food, hall, music and printing of the invitation cards,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Selvarajoo said every sen donated by the people would be channelled to the fund which would be distributed to orphans, single mothers and the injured in Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe have invited two Sri Lankan ministers to attend the dinner.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Sri Lankan government will facilitate our visit to the refugee camps,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said that the Gopio Sri Lanka chapter, the World Tamil Diaspora and the Lions Club of Jaffna would also be complementing the fund-raising effort.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A Malaysian delegation would go to Sri Lanka within two months to hand over the donations directly to the affected people, he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe will also provide a report together with the accounts to each of the donors,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Those wanting to contribute can send their cheques to <strong>Gopio Malaysia at 2A, Pearl Court, Jalan Thamby Abdullah, Brickfields, 50470 Kuala Lumpur, or contact Selvarajoo at 03-22724677.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestar.com.my\/news\/story.asp?file=\/2009\/5\/31\/nation\/4018318&amp;sec=nation\" target=\"_blank\">from Star.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR: A non-governmental organisation has launched a campaign to raise RM1mil to assist internally displaced people as a result of the separatist war in Sri Lanka.
