{"id":5205,"date":"2009-06-28T01:00:51","date_gmt":"2009-06-27T17:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/poobalan.com\/blog\/?p=5205"},"modified":"2009-06-28T01:00:51","modified_gmt":"2009-06-27T17:00:51","slug":"new-category-of-psd-scholarships-next-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/poobalan.com\/blog\/borninmalaysia\/2009\/06\/28\/new-category-of-psd-scholarships-next-year\/","title":{"rendered":"New category of PSD scholarships next year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestar.com.my\/news\/story.asp?file=\/2009\/6\/27\/nation\/20090627231654&amp;sec=nation\" target=\"_blank\">From The Star<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A new category will be established starting next year for scholarships under the Public Services Department scheme to be awarded purely based on merit, regardless of race.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun razak said he was sure that such a category would be welcomed by all communities, including the Chinese.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe are re-studying the distribution of scholarships under the Public Services Department scheme to introduce a new category.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cStarting next year, we will see the distribution of scholarships based purely on merit, regardless of race.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe will announce it next year and with the plan to limit to 10 subjects, we expect to see a more level playing field,\u201d he said in his speech at a dinner organised by both MCA and the Associated Chinese Chamber of Industry and Commerce here Saturday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Najib said this would allow Malaysia\u2019s best students to get aid to pursue higher studies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cSo we will get the best of best and the creme de la creme getting aid for higher studies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI believe this will be accepted well and it will allow each individual a fair chance to realise his full potential,\u201d he said, adding however that he was not \u201cletting the cat out of the bag\u201d just yet on the scheme.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Well, need to wait for the cat to be let out.
