I wonder if the Selangor Education Department has lost the plot somewhere along the line. They are introducing online application for Year On<\/a>e (Standard One) entry. Its a noble and forward-thinking plan, but what’s the contigency plan for those parents without Internet access or are IT-illiterate? Ask teacher to help??? As if the school teachers are very free.<\/p>\n

A Selangor Education Department official said applications for Year One entry could be done from any computer with Internet access.<\/p>\n

\u201cParents who do not have Internet access can go to the school they want to enrol their children in and ask the teachers there to help them key in the information,\u201d said the official yesterday.<\/p>\n

At least the Subang Jaya councillor has a good suggestion and effort:<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Subang Jaya Municipal Council councillor Tai Cheng Heng,\u00a0who is also the Seri Kembangan ser-vice centre chief, said his centre\u00a0was assisting parents with the online registration.<\/p>\n

\u201cParents who do not have Inter-net facilities at home may come to the service centre to register,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Tai said the service centre would provide assistance from Monday to Friday from 10am-5pm.<\/p>\n
