\nHalf of the RM2mil allocation from the Government to train budding Indian entrepreneurs is expected to be given out within the next few weeks, said Indian business chamber leader Datuk K.K. Eswaran.<\/p>\n
The allocation marked the first time the Government was fully funding a training programme run by the Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Maicci), said Eswaran.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe RM2mil grant to Maicci will be used to train 500 Indian entrepreneurs as announced by the Prime Minister last October.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf we are able to run the training successfully, the other RM1mil will also be given to us. Not only that, more funding will follow,\u201d Eswaran told reporters yesterday.<\/p>\n
The Maicci president added that some courses offered would include basic accounting and business management.<\/p>\n
Many small businesses did not practise proper book-keeping and auditing, Eswaran said.<\/p>\n
\u201cMore importantly, the training will teach entrepreneurs proper business governance,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Eswaran said Maicci would be forming a special task force to draw up a proper module for the training to ensure courses offered would be relevant for the participants.<\/p>\n
He pledged transparency and accountability in the use of the allocation, saying an audit report would be presented to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Maicci members.<\/p>\n
Eswaran said only state chamber members would be eligible for the training programme. Those interested in participating should join their respective state chambers.<\/p>\n
Asked about the timing of the allocation, Eswaran said the funding was not a political ploy.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
