A commendable effort, but I&#8217;m not sure if such an activity will cause any long term damage to the child. Perhaps they should consult some doctors for advise or reassurance.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">IPOH: Come June 6, a father-and-daughter team will take to the road to show their love and appreciation for Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">R. Ragu, 35, and his daughter Nithya Rubini, 11, will start walking from A\u2019 Famosa in Malacca at 6am and hope to reach Fort Cornwallis in Penang on June 22.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe idea to walk came from my daughter, who is a Year Five pupil at SK Pakatan Jaya here, as she wants to enter the Malaysia Book of Records,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/thestar.com.my\/archives\/2010\/5\/3\/nation\/n_25ragu.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"370\" \/><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">All for love: Ragu running alongside his daughter Nithya to prepare for their 800km walk from Malacca to Penang on June 6.<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ragu, who is a labourer, said they would do the 800km walk during Nithya\u2019s school holidays.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe will walk for eight hours every day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe need to cover 53km a day in order to complete the trip on time,\u201d said the father of four, adding that they would only stop occasionally for rest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To prepare for the event, he said they had been running daily to build up stamina.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOn weekends, we run between 50km and 60km,\u201d said Ragu, who showed a certificate from Nithya\u2019s school giving her its support.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In conjunction with the event, he will also collect funds for welfare homes in the state.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI am waiting for the state welfare department to furnish me with the list of homes that need help,\u201d Ragu said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Those who want to assist Ragu and Nithya in their quest can e-mail him at\u00a0<em>raguroadrunner@gmail.com<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For details, call him at 014-600 3118 or 012-355 3448.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While most of us will be enjoying school holidays in the usual manner of vacationing or at home, this father and daughter team aim to do something different indeed.
