In general, any connection to the customer of 256 kbit\/s (0.25 Mbit\/s) or greater is more concisely considered\u00a0<strong>broadband Internet access<\/strong>. The\u00a0<a title=\"International Telecommunication Union\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/International_Telecommunication_Union\" target=\"_blank\">International Telecommunication Union<\/a> Standardization Sector (<a title=\"ITU-T\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/ITU-T\">ITU-T<\/a>) recommendation I.113 has defined broadband as a transmission capacity that is faster than\u00a0primary rate ISDN, at 1.5 to 2 Mbit\/s. The\u00a0<a title=\"Federal Communications Commission\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Federal_Communications_Commission\" target=\"_blank\">FCC<\/a> definition of broadband is 4.0 Mbit\/s. The\u00a0<a title=\"Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Organization_for_Economic_Co-operation_and_Development\" target=\"_blank\">Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development<\/a> (OECD) has defined broadband as 256 kbit\/s in at least one direction and this bit rate is the most common baseline that is marketed as &#8220;broadband&#8221; around the world. There is no specific\u00a0<a title=\"Bitrate\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bitrate\">bitrate<\/a>defined by the industry, however, and &#8220;broadband&#8221; can mean lower-bitrate transmission methods. Some\u00a0Internet Service Providers (ISPs) use this to their advantage in marketing lower-bitrate connections as broadband.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>source:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Broadband_Internet_access\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Broadband_Internet_access<\/a><\/p>\n<p>So, the baseline is 256kbps, which is most commonly marketed worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure which baseline is adapted by our country, but according to the minister, we have reached 60% penetration. If its 256kbps, well nothing much to say.
