{"id":7752,"date":"2011-08-29T15:38:37","date_gmt":"2011-08-29T07:38:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/poobalan.com\/blog\/?p=7752"},"modified":"2011-08-29T15:38:37","modified_gmt":"2011-08-29T07:38:37","slug":"future-of-indian-malaysians-forum-by-miba","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/poobalan.com\/blog\/others\/2011\/08\/29\/future-of-indian-malaysians-forum-by-miba\/","title":{"rendered":"Future of Indian Malaysians forum by MIBA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Malaysian Indian Business Association (Miba) will be organising a forum here on Sept 11.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Titled \u201cFuture of Indian Malaysians \u2013 Towards the 13th general election\u201d, the forum would feature Indian political leaders from Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat as well as activists, community and business leaders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a statement, Miba president P Sivakumar said the last general election witnessed an erosion of support for BN.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAfter 11 general elections of solid block support to BN, a majority of Indians voted opposition candidates as reflected in the current representation in Parliament and state assemblies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHowever, since 2008 and after 16 by-elections there are some indications of a change with regard to the return of Indians back to BN due to the community\u2019s confidence in Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak\u2019s leadership style and inclusive approach.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe battle for the Indian vote is at hand and therefore this forum seeks to provide an opportunity for an intellectual discussion to ascertain the current status of events.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis forum is a meeting of minds and we hope that all parties will take the opportunity to use this forum to debate their views, challenges, hurdles and future possibilities,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sivakumar said this is the time for stock taking to compare what was promised, with what was delivered, between what was part of the election manifesto in 2008 and the track record in terms of delivery and public confidence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe acknowledge that the Indian community is a very diverse political community. We believe all groups irrespective of the political divide are committed towards seeing the advancement of the Indian community in the context of socio-economic development of all Malaysians.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe forum provides a platform for politicians and aspiring politicians to share their dreams and hope for the community in the context of what they have promised and delivered,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Registration fee is RM100.
