NST reports that PKR and DAP defectors, plus UMNO defector all were in Putrajaya at Deputy PM Najib’s office. It seems BOTA Adun did a double defection and returns to UMNO. With this, BN should 7-seat majority with support of independent candidates.

Confirmed….The Perak govt collapses….I got to say this is a masterstroke by Najib. He played out Anwar at his own game. By not accepting the 4 ADUNs into BN and keeping them as Indpendent, Najib also steered away from moral minefield.
However, I am uncomfortable with such methods of attaining power. BN should call for a fresh election even if they form the govt to get the moral authority to rule.
However, I have little sympathy for Anwar…I say “PADAN MUKA”…
I won’t shed any tears for Ngeh and Nga too. Nizar’s not too bad but he is a lameduck MB. The real MB was Ngeh and a corrupted & arrogant one at that.
Actually, 3 are independent, but the other (Bota) will be joining back UMNO.
Now it rests on the Sultan’s shoulders. Give chance to BN or call for fresh elections?
Majority of 3 seats, whom are the independent candidates is very, very fragile. They can easily swing either way when it comes to crucial decision-making in the assembly.
The slim majority will see more unrest in coming months. PR and BN will double their efforts to pull more ADUNs and this will be unhealthy for the state.
The Sultan, to be fair, may give DPM Najib a chance to explain BN’s view. He may consider giving the rakyat another chance at the polls and see if either coalition can garner bigger majority (more than 10?).
If there’s new elections, the defectors will be major losers. End of their political careers for the next 5 years.
Actually by this time, Najib will have more PR turncoats with him. I expect several PKR and some DAP ADUNs to defect. This eventually make PR collapse in Perak and might even spread to Kedah and Selangor.
I don’t agree with such methods but I can’t really blame for Najib to go on offensive as a way to defend BN from getting attacked by Anwar and PR using underhand and unethical and undemocratic tactics.
Perhaps this episode will ensure all parties to sit and end the menace of party hopping once and for all. That will be a step forward for Malaysian democracy.
And as for Ngeh and Nga…good riddance.
i presume the defectors thought this “dont play play with C4, just surrender” .
Guess what , if there’s fresh election BN will lose . The ‘GE12 wave’ is not over yet across the nation . Just wait and see when there’s a election .
The defectors got no brain to choose the correct party ; but the people are smarter than politicians .
let us all keep our fingers crossed that the sultan will do the right thing.
