Well, looks like the rumours are becoming true! For the first time in history, in the 51st year of our Independence, the Indian community gets a Deputy Chief Minister. Its a good beginning since the country is starting to acknowledge other communities by offering more responsibilities.
Even though the post is 2ND DCM, I think is to avoid having both CM and 1st DCM coming from the same party. Thus, DCM 1 given to PKR, and DCM 2 given to DAP.
Wishing Prof Dr Ramasamy all the best! May he perform to the best of his capabilities.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today announced that PKR’s Penanti state assemblyperson Muhammad Fairuz Khairuddin and DAP’s Perai representative P Ramasamy would be made the state’s deputy chief ministers. Muhammad Fairuz will be the Deputy CM 1 and Ramasamy, the Deputy CM 2.
Lim, who was sworn in yesterday, said the decision to pick the duo was to have a leadership to represent all communities in Penang. This is the first time an Indian has been awarded such a high post in Malaysia.
The state’s executive council will consist of seven members from DAP and three from PKR. Meanwhile, both speaker and deputy speaker of the state assembly will be from PKR.
The lone PAS state assemblyperson, who has been left out of the DAP-PKR government, has said he will cooperate with the state government.
The DAP-led opposition made a clean sweep in Penang in the last general election, totally wiping out the BN’s hold in the island state.”
