So claims its president, Samy Vellu. That is indeed good news for MIC and Samy.

Samy says that those voters who abandoned MIC during the elections are turning back to the party. “Hundreds of people” are visiting the party offices everyday, knowing that only MIC could help them.

Quoting some statistics from unknown sources, Samy said that 50% of the community rejected MIC in the last election.

According to him, the community realised that only a close relationship with th Federal Government through the MIC can improve the community’s livelihood.

They admit to having been confused and in disarray, that they were influenced into voting for the Opposition but I tell them that it does not matter.

When asked why they had come back looking for us, their answer was that the MIC has an administration, offices and an experienced leadership, and has continued looking after the people despite having lost in the elections.

This is the reason why they are still interested in forging a relationship with the MIC.

Its good that MIC did not give up hope, and still trying to win over the community. They had to eat the humble pie and move on with times. Yes, the MIC machineries are in place, but need to be fine-tuned or even overhauled to maximize its potential. Its time to look at the community as equal partners, rather than a meekly wife.

I hope MIC won’t be trapped again in false sense of security, just like in the elections time. They were pretty confident, but ended up in the losing end. The community can make use of all MIC facilities and network, but may very well ditch MIC when it matters most. This is something that needs to be understood. Just like when MIC played out the community at times, the community also can strike down MIC with vengeance.

By the way, do you really believe what he says?

There is no reason to doubt as the result of PP bye-election showed. I am sure we will have more opportunities to judge his claims.

I am also very sure PR supporters will claim otherwise, just like they had been claiming that Anwar will take over the government on Sept 16th….

    LOL…..

the Q is whether SV wants to strenghten mic or himself ? Time will tell tell whether supporting indians are fools or not . Good luck !

I’d rather respect someone who lost everything in life fighting for community rights than someone whom used community to buy personal properties across the globe .

Lost everything fighting for community ? Hello, Uthaya would not have done this if he knew he will be arrested. You want proof ? Remember Utaya ran way to the UK when he had some problems with the police and asked for political asylum ?? Is this a person with guts ? Someone with guts would stay in Malaysia and fight, not chicken out…

where were you when the whole nation cried for rights ? hiding behind saree? chicken out ?

Where I was ? I was helping Indians to progress instead of instigating them to demontrate in the streets. I was teaching Indians to think positive and stand on their own feet while Uthaya was using racist slogans to win political points without achieving anything worthwhile.

I was at Kg Medan giving tuitions before the riots when Utaya didnt even know where Kg Medan was. I was helping the victims while Uthaya was making political statements and instigating the residents to make exhorbitant demands.

you can teach 20 people but how about 2million people ? It needs a daring leader (like Hindraf) to teach the awareness in mass .

Killer , you seem to be childish lar ….. we’re not taking about schooling days ….
Politics is mass leadership and driving mechanism . When it fails we see unstability , racial tension …etc . So the expectation on political leader is pretty high . See how Bill Clinton was brought down due to ethical issue. We have see many CEOs come and go when they failed a bit in results .
Lay people maynot be clean BUT they will expect their leader to be clean . It’s universal law . So i dont believe badawi or SV could capture hearts of angry and frustated people .

‘Change’ is the alternate and ultimate solution . We’re gearing towards that . You can go back to your schooling days anyway .

  8. Killer, you’re one hell of a spinster.

If leadership is all about ethics then Uthaya is hardly a role model at all. My doubts about him stems from years back I personally saw how he manipulated the Kg Medan issue. Intead of solving it, he made it in such a way that it was a racial issue where the Indians were systematically targetted and attacked due to their race. In reality it was just a neighbourly quarrel blown into a racial fight. I saw how he instigated the residents and made the problem worse and sabotaged the efforts of people who were trying to help.

When NGOs were helping Kg Medan people before the incident , he never showed his face. But when the fight occured and the international press came, he suddenly appeared and tried to hijack the issue by portraying himself to be a hero.

It is very easy for someone in a multi-racial society to be a hero using ethnic issues. They can use racial sentiments to stir comunity’s anger very easily using inflamatory words. It is far harder to work and trying to improve the welfare and wellbeing of people like what have been done by MIC and other NGOs.

To me Uthya and HINDRAF is no diffrent from Teresa Kok, Ahmad Ismail and Zulkifli Nordin. These are all racists and traitors to the nation.

to me i’d say Hindraf is a messenger . In fact it declares itself as pressure group and not political group anyway.
I bet Killer is the only one to have a new story which seems blaming uthaya as cause of the whole clash….. what a world! Well , we know many sources about the incident which i wish not to expose here due to sensitivity …. anyway everybody knows about the case…
Most of the claims that H brought during their roadshows are actually what we’ve seen/heard in daily life . So of course it will gather mass support . SV went India and promoted a nicely printed catalog claiming indians here are not discriminated and living luxury life . Even those in India could not believe him . Support or oppose will depend on facts and visible truth .
