After ending Day 1 on a happy note, we started the second day with a search for breakfast. Finally took noodles at a Chinese restaurant at Brinchang. Our first stop was the Big Red Strawberry Farm located at Brinchang town itself. Its near the Cactus Valley and across the road from the pasar malam site. This place was set up about 3 years ago, and it primarily exports salad to overseas markets. The also sell many kinds of flower plants. While were there, there were construction work to expand the area. According to one of the workers, lots of tourists visit this place. They plan to built a car park and more plantation area. The souvenirs are a bit expensive compared to other place, but the area is big and cooling.

Then we left for Gunung Brinchang (Mount Brinchang) at about lunch time. You have to take the road leading to Sungai Palas Boh Estate, but turn off and one of the junction. The main junction to Sungai Palas is about 2-3km from Equatorial Hotel, if heading towards Simpang Pulai. The road is quite narrow and at times you have to squeeze a bit if another vehicle comes from the opposite side. It took about 15 minutes to reach the peak. This is the only mountain which has tarred road to the top. At the top, there is a Telekom station, Digi tower, and an observation station. We could not see much since it was foggy. Left the place at about 2.30pm.

We entered Sungai Palas estate on the way down from the mountain. Drove all the way to the parking area of Boh Tea Center, next to the SJKT Ladang Sungai Palas. There were nice views along the way, but a bit hard to park the car to take shots. We visited the tea processing plant (this time it was operational). Saw the machines grinding and drying the leaves.
Then, bought some tea packs at the tea shop before proceeding to the cafe for a cuppa. The cakes tasted quite nice. Enjoyed the view there until about 5pm, taking loads of photos. Read about my earlier visit in April to the center here.

We headed back to the hotel and after a short while, decided to drop by the pasar malam (night market) at Brinchang town. It is located at the open area in front of the police station. It is held on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoon till night. Most of the shops sell food stuff, flowers, and vegetables. Spent about 45 minutes there.

Dinner time and we had no idea where to go. Decided to go to Tanah Rata but still could not decide. On the way back, Then suggested Smokehouse hotel again. Well, whatever goes. We went in and ordered our dinner. They have a waiting room while dinner is being prepared. There were few other patrons as well. As I mentioned earlier, the food is extremely pricey, so I guess it was a mistake coming back here again. Anyway, had our dinner (I took chicken while Then had salmon). My opinion – food is not to my liking. Maybe I’m not used to the English dishes.

Dinner at Smokehouse Hotel

We left Smokehouse around 9pm and went back to the hotel. Another round of Cinemax. It was an enjoyable day, except the dinner part.
