Another tit for tat starting? Now wait for MIC to show ex-PPP joining MIC.
3,000 who quit MIC join PPP
PORT DICKSON: Some 3,000 former MIC members from the Teluk Kemang division here joined the PPP yesterday.
They also applied to the PPP to set up 71 new branches.
They were led by former MIC Teluk Kemang deputy chairman S. Karupusamy, who said they had left the MIC some time ago.
“Since resigning from the MIC, we were wooed by the opposition. But, we felt it was best for us to join the PPP, which is a Barisan Nasional component party,” he said, adding that the members were still strongly behind the BN and felt they could do more in a party like the PPP.
PPP president Datuk M. Kayveas said there was no member-pinching as those who joined the PPP yesterday had resigned from the MIC earlier and did not belong to any political party.
“One thing we can assure the MIC is that they will still get strong support here. We are, after all, a BN component party and will support our fellow component party members.”
