This is the first part of my analysis of the candidacy for 2008 General Elections. Recently, there are words going around that no Indians will be in parliment if people don’t vote for MIC’s candidates (since Gerakan decided no Indian is capable and PPP’s Kayveas is conveniently ignored). I checked through the list of candidates and picked out those seats that are solely contested by Indians. There are 4 such seats which means 4 Indians will be in the parliment:
P62 SUNGAI SIPUT
Indians – 22.6%
Malays – 36.5%
Chinese – 40.3%
Others -0.6%
Indian + Chinese = 62.9%
Total Voters – 47,424
S. SAMY VELLU SANGALIMUTHU (BN)
MICHAEL JEYAKUMAR DEVARAJ (PKR)
NOR RIZAN OON (Independent – so i kind of ignore his chances of winning)
P78 CAMERON HIGHLANDS
Indians – 13.7%
Malays – 43.1%
Chinese – 33.7%
Others -9.5%
Indian + Chinese = 47.4%
Total Voters – 23,461
DEVAMANY S. KRISHNASAMY (BN)
APALASAMY JATALIAH (DAP)
P107 SUBANG
Indians – 13.5%
Malays – 50.0%
Chinese – 35.9%
Others -0.6%
Indian + Chinese = 49.4%
Total Voters – 84,414
MURUGESAN SINNADAVAR (BN)
SIVARASA K. RASIAH (PKR)
P109 KAPAR
Indians – 13.0%
Malays – 51.4%
Chinese – 35.4%
Others -0.3%
Indian + Chinese = 48.4%
Total Voters – 112,224
KOMALA DEVI M PERUMAL (BN)
MANIKAVASAGAM SUNDARAM (PKR)
The question is on which side of the bench would they be?
Second thing is how will there be any in the cabinet?
