One son in Parliment, another in state assembly. Not bad! An achievement for Karpal Singh. The people who voted the sons will harbor hopes that they will be next Lions of Dato Keramat/Puchong. All the best, and for sure you’ll need it, Jagdeep!

PENANG: Jagdeep Singh Deo, 37, is looking forward to his first state legislative assembly sitting as the Datok Keramat representative.

“I am proud to have been elected. The last time my father was in the state assembly was 18 years ago. Now I go there as his son,” said Jagdeep Singh (pic), the eldest son of DAP national chairman Karpal Singh.

He said it was quite daunting when he started his 13-day campaign because the state DAP had won only one seat over the last three terms. “We were the underdogs but I was encouraged by the large turnout at our ceramah and motivated by my house-to-house visits,” he said.

Jagdeep Singh, whose wife Belindar Deo is pregnant with their third child, said his immediate plan would be to find a suitable site for a service centre in Datok Keramat as he had promised during his campaigning.

“I would like to rest but there will be matters that require my immediate attention now that I have been elected, plus I also have to catch up on some legal work,” said the lawyer.
