Wow! I can’t believe my eyes! Now every Tom, Muthu and Ah Chong is jumping on the bandwagon, shouting “free them!, free them!” Wonder when some Ahmad will come along and support release of the 5 Hindraf ISA detainees. Err..does GMI count?

Oh. wait a minute… there’s a clause in there to protect MCA …”if they are found not to be a threat to the country’s stability”. Don’t MCA people attend cabinet meetings? Surely they would have talked about HINDRAF and ISA in the cabinet. So, is MCA unclear on HINDRAF’s threats? Do they know that there’s actually no threat, but just trying to be polite? Or they actually don’t even know what’s happening and have been kept in the dark by PM all this while? Hmm…maybe they also following Samy Vellu and try to gain cheap publicity among the Chinese community.

Anyway, the community should offer a token thanks to MCA for this support, even though it is overdue by few months and sounds mighty insincere.

The list keeps growing – HAF, GMI, MIC, MHS, MIBA, DAP, Gerakan, and now MCA.

MCA calls for release of Hindraf five

PETALING JAYA: MCA vice-president Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai has called on the Home Minister to seriously consider freeing the five Hindraf leaders from ISA detention “if they are found not to be a threat to the country’s stability.”

Making this call to Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar, he said releasing the five would show that the Government was democratic. “It will show that the Government is open in its handling of issues affecting the people. This in turn will enable the Government to garner more support from the people,” he said.

Lim also suggested that the Government arrange a special dialogue for the Indian community to voice out any grievances. “The five leaders had organised the street demonstrations to highlight the plight of the Indian community,” he said.”
