I guess the “condition” is to ensure his family members are around in case any critical decisions need to be taken immediately.
As for the links to terrorists, even if one person said so, what about the rest? As far as I remember, there was no statement that said one of them would “use the tactics of the Tamil Tigers”. When was this statement made?
But if the reason is due to the “speeches which were racist in nature and violated the Federal Constitution”, then I guess Kamunting won’t be enough. Many politicians will be behind bars based on what they say during their general assemblies and political speeches. Maybe have to run parliament from Kamunting ! 😆
Touching on the detention of five Hindraf leaders, Syed Hamid said they posed a security threat as they made speeches which were racist in nature and violated the Federal Constitution. To a question from Lim Kit Siang (DAP-Ipoh Timur) that the five Hindraf leaders were detained due to alleged links with terrorists, Syed Hamid said this was true as one of them had said they would use the tactics of the Tamil Tigers.
On the medical treatment to P. Uthayakumar, Syed Hamid said there was no truth that the government was denying medical treatment to the Hindraf leader. He said Uthayakumar imposed several conditions, among them to spend two hours daily with his family while seeking treatment at the National Heart Institute, after the government agreed that he could go there for treatment. “We were agreeable if the hospital allowed it.”
