Since its in the open that Arumugam has some personal difficulties related to marital issues, PKR came out with the explanation:

PKR supreme council member Datuk Johari Abdul has described the personal problems faced by V. Arumugam as not a scandal but a misunderstanding.

He said the problems were linked to the legal status of Arumugam’s “second wife.”

A non-Muslim man cannot have more than one wife under the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976 unless he divorces his first wife.

“Arumugam married his second wife some eight or nine years ago by religious rites,” said Johari.

He said Arumugam had not registered the customary marriage because he was still legally married to his first wife of 19 years.

Asked whether Arumugam’s resignation was related to a memorandum that had been submitted to the Kedah Sultan alleging he had insulted the palace by bringing his “second wife” to official functions, Johari, who is also MP for Sungei Petani said:

“To me, this is all just a misunderstanding that has been triggered by certain parties to create uncertainty.”

“Arumugam married his second wife some eight or nine years ago, but this is being raised now. Clearly, this seems to be a ploy to bring him down,” he said.

In Alor Setar, state government sources said that the memorandum was submitted to the Sultan on Tuesday by several residents of Sungai Petani.

They said Arumugam had breached Section 7 (1) of the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976 by taking a second wife without divorcing his first.

They also questioned the woman’s legal status to marry.

“We have photographs to prove that they married according to religious rites,” said the sources.

Attempts to contact Arumugam have been unsuccessful.

What does Hinduism say on taking a second wife? Anyone can answer?

    MP: edited.

A hindu in Malaysia is bound by civil law and if he or she desires to remarry, the person will first have to divorce their current spouse.

What arumugam did was try to white-wash his “chinna veedu” in a customary ceremony.
The woman is still his mistress (NOT HIS WIFE) and any children they have are b******* (poor things).

Technically, I don’t think he is a bigamist as he did not attempt to registered his illicit ‘marriage’. (not sure about this)

Imagine the agony his first wife and his children (from both liaisons) would be going through.

I believe an intergral part of this whole movement towards uplifting our community should be complete rejection of people with low moral values, regardless of which side of the political divide they stand.

What is wrong with us that so few of those with intergrity and sincerity are willing to step up for our people.

In the path of Hinduism , a man/woman goes through 4 stages of life, bramachari(student) , grahasta(householder), vanaparatha(detached from active householder life eg grandparent) and finally sanyasi( renounced from material world and fully in search of God).

Academically explained , nursery to primary school, then secondary, college finally university. Do you want to go back to primary school after attending secondary school. Each individual need to analyze and answer.

The core of Hinduism is about Self-Realization and fulfillment of one’s duty on earth,(Krishna’s teaching to Arjuna in Bhagavad Gita), Jiwa Atma knowing Para Atma, answering the question Who Am I ? ( Ramana Maharishi),

Since man is full of lust and desires , even at 70 he may look for a 25 years old wife !

At the end of the day you decide whom you want to follow? A Mahan( great soul) or a “mannakatti” ( a man with mud brain).

Only one who fulfills his responsibility to his one wife and children in accordance to Dharma is fit to be called a leader because he knows what is responsibility. He is an asset to the society rather than a corrupted thieve/thug stealing from the society that nourishes him.
