I’m sure by now many Malaysian Indians will be familiar with myindians.com courtesy of the massive advertisement blitz on radio. I browsed their site and found it quite useful for some information. They even referenced my scholarship info via GVishnu’s blog entry over here http://www.myindians.com/Education/ScholarshipsandLoan.aspx 🙂
Anyway, I’m a bit worried that the info on the owners of the website is not revealed. There should be some transparency here, as I (and also others) would like to know who is funding and running the website and its team. Is it a political party? Is it an NGO with fund from government? Is it a philanthropist? Is it a group of individuals? I did a whois and turned up with the info below.
From the articles and statistics shown in the website, I think its a government-related or funded project because some of the statistics are not easily available and the articles seem to favor the authorities. May even be one of the outcome from the Special Implementation Task Force for the Cabinet Committee on Indian Community. Whatever it is, as long as the community benefits from the information on the website, its a good move.
I’ve also send them a request via their feedback form few days ago, but till now, no response or action taken.

Hi Poobalan,
Happy you found the domain details using your network knowledge.Lets move aside the concerns on the owner or funders. They are doing a good job and need the support of ‘online warriors’ like you and me.Personally i’ve contacted them and they responded to me regarding their cuurent progress. They kind of busy with some upgrade works and plan to launch more interactive features. If im not mistaken it will be launched in coming weeks.Like everyone else, lets hope that this portal will be a usefull tool for our indian community.
Thanks
hi edw7n,
well the domain details are in public info, so no big deal. i’m curious to know so that can have more faith and also express gratitude for their service. its something that is to be promoted and acknowledged because so far, we don’t have a website of such coverage to help the indian community.
good to hear that they have responded to you. maybe too many request, and my turn haven’t come yet.
hope they will continue adding to their website and improve its future. i’ll strongly suggesting adding tamil language option to help the people who are not comfortable in english.
as for me, i’ll surely pass them the scholarship info, just a small help which i can offer.
poobalan, just keep your…… shut. you dont have to be an investigating officer from scotland yard. if you want to participate, please do but dont have to know the root of this concern. who do you think you are, mr S. kunju is it.
hi konasakaran, this thought comes to my mind: “if there’s nothing useful to say, better don’t say anything and end up sound foolish” 🙂
Guys, i just go thru the website details and if not mistaken it’s been put up in msc server(goverment server ).A normal people or ngo’s to get all info is quiet difficult but they did well to gather the information.Regarding the tamil school fund allocated defiantly there is issue but since this is the website to help indians let we see the result or success story they are publishing in the myindians website. As per concern and not to de- motivated our indians member let we work together and gave them what they want and let see what are the results going to produce.
astanaman,
i’m sure the website is useful to us, no doubt about that. i just highlighted that the info on who is behind the project is missing. it will be good to know, that’s all. in this times, people can easily misuse the information. need to have a bit of guarantee or reliability.
i’m all for giving them (and others) help, and as i mentioned, the scholarship link also points to my blog, indirectly.
i too wish them success and hope many people will benefit.

hi edw7n,
not sure what you mean by “proper direction”.
anyway, i don’t remove posts. let it be a reflection of past action. can refer again to learn from it.
Hi Poobalan,
There appears no mystery here. Web audit confirms MyIndians.com is simply a parked site designed for attracting traffic. Check out the content: does it really solve anything or is it a just a collection of links?
