I have told the youth leaders that they would be sacked if there was one more statement regarding the problems in the state MIC in the newspapers
Still haven’t learned anything, I guess. Oh wait a minute, it will be a “media misquoted me” statement tomorrow.
Wonder how this R & R powwow will end. The problem started when a majority of youth leaders wanted state chairman Rajagopalu to be removed after ACA started investigations. Typical MIC response from Rajagopalu:
Rajaendran is forgetting that he himself can be removed anytime
MIC Youth chief tells division leaders not to make public statements
SEREMBAN: The problems in the Negri Sembilan MIC shows no sign of going away, with the party’s national youth chief S.A. Vigneswaran threatening division youth leaders with the sack if they continue to make public statements.
Vigneswaran, who met state chairman Datuk T. Rajagopalu and three of eight youth division leaders on Sunday night, also told the media to refrain from reporting on the issue as it was an internal party matter. “I have told the youth leaders that they would be sacked if there was one more statement regarding the problems in the state MIC in the newspapers.
“We are trying hard to rebuild the people’s confidence in the party so it is my hope that the media will stop playing up the issue,” he said after emerging from the 30-minute meeting at the state party headquarters.
On Thursday, state youth chairman R. Rajaendran sent a memorandum to Samy Vellu over the wing’s unhappiness with Rajagopalu. Rajaendran said while the youth wing supported Samy Vellu’s leadership, they wanted Rajagopalu removed as he had not done much for the community.
The MIC lost two of the three seats it contested in the state. Rajagopalu was beaten by the PKR’s Ravi Munusamy in Port Dickson. National vice president and former Natural Resources and Environment deputy minister Datuk S. Sothinathan also failed to retain his Telok Kemang parliamentary seat.
Rajaendran was not invited to the closed-door meeting between Vigneswaran, Rajagopalu and several other state leaders on Sunday night. He arrived several minutes after the meeting had started with youth leaders from the Pilah, Seremban, Jelebu, Jempol and Nilai divisions, and began criticising Rajagopalu openly.Sources said Vigneswaran calmed him down but both Rajaendran and Rajagopalu were not prepared to bury the hatchet. The meeting had to be stopped as the situation got out of control.
