KUALA KUBU BARU: Great-grandmother V. Kalyani was most excited when incumbent Hulu Selangor MP Datuk G. Palanivel paid her a visit at her eatery at Kg Sejantung in Kalumpang on Saturday. “It was with his help that I managed to obtain this land and build this shop,” said the 67-year-old former rubber taper.
According to Kalyani, she had been preparing the food and transporting it to a ramshackle stall in the vicinity for 15 years before opening her new shop last year. “I used to cycle from my house located about 5km away at 5am daily and would go home at about 7pm,” said the mother of four children, 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Not able to stand the strain any more, Kalyani said she approached Palanivel for help and narrated her plight to him.
“I told Palanivel that my children were also struggling and I could not depend on them to support me and that was why I needed to earn my own keep,” she said. Kalyani added that Palanivel immediately helped her obtain a small plot of land in the same area from the district land office as well as provided funding to build the shop.
“I now don’t have to struggle so much as I am able to cook the food here,” said Kalyani.
The only problem currently, she added, was that the shop was yet to receive electricity from Tenaga Nasional Bhd.
Palanivel, who was accompanied by Hulu Bernam incumbent state assemblyman Datuk Mohammed Idris Abu Bakar when visiting Kalyani, promised to help her obtain electricity as soon as possible.

S’gor said it has court order to demolish the temple so had no choice . After Nov25, it says no demolishing . Even BN manifesto gives weight to this issue .
