Selection trial tomorrow for entry into USM
GEORGE TOWN: The 26,635 students who applied to enter apex-status Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) must not miss the Malaysian University Selection Inventory (Munsyl) special assessment test tomorrow.
USM deputy vice-chancellor (Academic and International Affairs) Prof Ahmad Shukri Mustapa Kamal said the test would enable them to select applicants who were suitable for the course they had opted for.
“Anyone who misses the test will miss a chance to study in USM. It’s just a one-hour test and it is to help the university and applicants make the right choice.”
He said USM had selected 117 locations nationwide for the applicants to attend the assessment tomorrow.
“Only 3,500 applicants will be picked to enrol in the university. The applicants will know their status at the end of this month.”
Prof Ahmad Shukri said unsuccessful applicants would have their applications submitted to the University Admission Unit (UPU) for other public universities.
He said those sitting for the Munsyl must print the attending slip from www.usm.my, bring their identification card, pencils and erasers to sit for the assessment.
“The location for them to sit the assessment can be found online,” he said, adding that the university had sent out SMSes to the candidates.

nope, not guaranteed. you are just shortlisted.

sir..i m confused abt the usm apex status…if i reject usm offer will i still be considered by other uni?will it affect my status if i reject their offer?

yes, even if your application not successful at usm, you will still be considered for other ipta as long as you applied to the other uni via UPU.
wil i get offer from other public university if i get an offer from usm?is it the same offer?

from what i understand, if you get offer from usm and accept it, then your name will be removed from upu list.

always remember that you are no more in school. so be formal (pants, shirt, and shoes), and keep a tie as a spare in case you are asked to wear it.

sir, i din’t print my application form when i appy for USM. Now im short listed for ujian munsyithis week. and i got prin that form only.. if i pass the tast and they place me at USM, will tey ask for the application copy? if tes where shoul i get it.
did you try login again at usm website to see if can access your application form? i’m not sure they will ask or not, but don’t worry about it.
Sir, I too, like mugesh, didn’t print my application form and neither did I send an application with any documents by post. All I did was submit the application online and now I’m shortlisted for the test. I tried logging into the pohonusm website to access the form but it says “Maaf, semakan untuk kategori Diploma telah ditutup.” Do I need to send any documens by pst to USM? If yes, how can i get a copy of my application form and what are the required documents? Thank you.

from what i remember, need not post anything, but you should have printed your application form for future reference.

Hi sir, I want to know when the munsyi result will come out? I heard that Munsyi and Medsi are same kind of exams and it`s just the name only different. Is that so? If I`ve already sit for munsyi do I need to sit for Medsi also? I need your help.
for munsyi results, pls check at usm website.
medsi and munsyi is similar, but its offered by different uni for different purpose. munsyi is for usm, while medsi is for teaching program under upu. YES, you must attend if asked to go.

last year there were some confusion. if you are offered and accept the place in USM, your name will be removed from UPU list. by right, there’s no blacklisting. but if the choice you apply under UPU is having tough competition, you may not get a place under UPU.
