I just talked to few friends. Two of them couldn’t sleep at night thinking about the murders! Even Then is having problem thinking about the murders. The impact is bad!
OK, let’s cover some news now:
1. Watched TV3 Buletin Utama at 8pm? You’ll be shocked! One of the suspects (looked like a young chap!) confessed that he was given RM5000 to get rid of the Selvi (Balasundram’s wife). He paid RM1500 each to two other fellows, and the three of them attacked Selvi, killing her.
2. More chillingly, one of the suspect said that one victim was fed to a bear! My God , a bear???? God have mercy.
3. Number of victims may reach 20!
Buletin Utama have to classified 18SG now.
Unconfirmed sources indicate the family has moved out due to fear that they may be identified. One source said they have gone overseas, but I’m not sure how true this is. The school had asked the parent to remove the children since may affect the school, but FMT article below report another angle:
Fearing for their safety, the wife of the main suspect in the murder of cosmetic millionaires Sosilawati Lawiya and three others took the couple’s children home from school this morning.
The boys, aged seven and 10, were said to be in class when their mother arrived.
It is learnt that the Datuk’s wife had told school officials that people have found out that her children were in that particular school in Brickfields.
“So she was worried for the boys’ safety and wanted to take them home,” a source told FMT.
Meanwhile, a family friend said the children stayed with their mother in Puchong during the weekdays and spent the weekends with their father in Banting.
The suspect and his brother, who was also arrested, are lawyers and the duo operate a law firm in Banting.
The family friend described the brothers as humble and religious.
However, the family friend claimed that the brothers changed of late and had kept away from relatives, preferring to mix with well-heeled people instead.
According to him, rumours of the brothers possible involvement in the case began to swirl among family members when they had skipped a relative’s wedding on Sunday.
He said the brothers were arrested after returning from the airport where they had picked up their parents, who went on a trip to India.
Another friend informed me that the Datuk is enstranged with wife due to a family problem – they bashed up the wife’s brother (again, unverifiable).
The neighbor are shocked that the brothers are suspected murderers because the guys behaved so well in front of them. Some even cried after hearing this news. Shocking indeed.
Meanwhile, since the sister’s (doc in hospital) FB account was revealed in LowYatNet, it has been removed. Its for her security as well, I suppose.
What a small world it is. I can confirm that the wife was indeed my batchmate while in university, though I barely remember speaking to her, while their kids studied in a school where some kids I know study.
It seems the family of the suspects are in the dark about the activities of the brothers.
As of today night, more things have been recovered from the river by the police, but no clear idea on what those things are.
The police meanwhile, have announced that they have solved the case. Up to AG to initiate charges:
Police are in the process of liaising with the Attorney-General’s Chambers to prepare charges and the type of charges to be made against those detained for the gruesome murders of cosmetics millionaire Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya and three others.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said police considered the case solved and commended CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Bakri Zinin, Deputy Comm Datuk Hadi Ho Abdullah and all the detectives in the team entrusted with apprehending the suspects.
The police also seem to indicate there’s some problem somewhere within:
Meanwhile, Ismail said all missing persons reports must be investigated immediately and thoroughly to avoid another similar incident.
He admitted that Sosilawati’s case could have been prevented if fast and thorough action had been taken.
“I have already instructed my men that there should be no more slacking. Those caught slacking or ignoring missing persons reports will be severely reprimanded,” he told editors at a briefing at his office in Bukit Aman Wednesday.
I’m sure the public will be very interested to know how the cases were missed earlier until can end up till this extent. This oversight/negligence may have emboldened the murderers to commit more murders wantonly.
Looks like the case will proceed on fast track next week. Expect to hear more gruelling stuff and maybe some startling revelations when the trials start. If the cases are proven, we may be looking at the worse crime in Malaysia for a long time to come.
I beleive a man is innocent until proven guilty. Don’t convict them online. Let’s wait for through investigation to be completed.
Publishing their facebook links, home pictures and prosecuting their families indirectly is not right. What did their children do to be in the limelight?
I am not supporting them. The murder is grissly and should not have happened. If they are guilty, then they should be given the maximum sentence, in this case death sentence would be apt. However, we have our own legal system to handle this.
The mere sensation-alization of this story is just fueled by public’s hunger for juicy gossip to fill their otherwise boring day.
It’s better to silently pray for the victims to rest in peace, the suspects given a fair trial and the guilty given a harsh sentence.
hi anon,
i agree and that’s why i said “alleged” or “suspected” because we’d never know if there’s any new twists to the story.
however, things like FB links (limited info in their profiles), house pic are those that are available in public domain and published by the newspapers. nothing more. i try to be careful not release information that will jeopardise the family or others. However, i take note of your comments and will be careful about this.
as for the gossip part, i agree with you too. when i write about scholarships and education info, not much readership. but when i wrote about the murder (mainly because i have relatives in the town), the readership went up 3x! no wonder newspapers write about such stories frequently.
@poobalan, oh come on! let him give us the news..dont damper his effort pls..Mr Poobalan..u r doing great .
Sir, you took out that article whc had that nasty comment. I was really angry (pi…. Actually) at the absurdness and shallowness of ths so-called human being. To thk that someone can hv so much anger, grugde etc is very frightening. Its almost taliban like, terrorist like thinking that just make me feel whether Msia can weather out the storm?
MP: edited. sorry, can’t publish names of the family members.
the wife is *****..all goundens, vatti business magnets- dont eva give out blood sucking vatti, coz tis wat happens ..karma hits back
People especially Indians are very emotional and tend to trust bad people easily if they put up some innocent show before them. (Very sorry to say that I am also an Indian). Indeed, I feel very sorry and really angry with the Indians attitutes. If the person is terrorist (e.g. Prabakaran) or big time gangster, the guys are “worshipped” and in a way help/encourage them to continue with their activities.
THese guys need to be shot to dead. HAVE YOU EVER THINK ABOUT THEIR VICTIMS???? HOW CAN ONE BE SO SELFISH AND SIDE THE “BEAST”. It has been long practiced that most Indian parents are very we…l aware of their children’s bad activities but ONLY when things go out of proportion they, have the blady cheek to say that the son(s) is actually very good. Of course, no children born bad but their upbringing. I HAVE KNOWN SOME INDIANS WE ARE VERY PROUD TO SAY THEIR SONS, BROTHERS, UNCLE OR FATHER IS A GANGSTER. For them, which prominent figure they know is not important BUT which district gansgter they know is far more important. With violent, full of fantasy, unrealistice time passing movies, serial, talks and activities have really made the Indians, now have stigma in society. I have personally experience 95% of Indians (be it of high society or uneducated)so much into “sami”/ medium to seek for solution to overcome their domestice problems, health, enemies, career and take these medium as their judge/adviser which lead to further family break-up. Don’t they put all their problems, hurdles, obstacle and etc to the GOD and ask GOD to lead them to the right path and to give them WISDOM, COURAGE, PROTECTION AND CONFIDENCE??????
What do they pray daily??? So and so must not prosper? So and so must die in accident? So and so must not live happily and to ruin other life. It is high time for we Indian to change our mentality, how we percieve things,PRAYERS…like quaran, bible and buddism to curb crime.
I AM VERY MUCH SAD TO KNOW MY PEOPLE (INDIANS) REFUSE TO TAKE CHANGES BUT ONLY KNOW HOE TO REACT TO ADVICE. DON’T SHARPEN YOU WEAPON BUT YOUR WISDOM……PLEASE, I AM EANESTLY URGING YOU…ESPECIALLY THE NEW EDUCATED GENERATION…….
Dear AB,
I am really not sure what point you are trying to drive home here. However, to say 95 % of indians are going into cult/black magic to get rid of their problems is totally absurd. When did you conduct your survey? Was it given to approximately 50 % of 1.7 million Indians residing in india? Don’t just comment for the sake of comment.
This post is about the murder. Someone killed someone. That’s it. Nothing related to religion or race. You said you are an indian. Then you said pray like in quran, bible. (I assume bhagavat geeta taught people to kill each other)You went on to say Indians pray ” So and so must not prosper? So and so must die in accident?”..how would you know what they say in their prayers? Are you GOD? Then you went on to say “THese guys need to be shot to dead”. Who are you to pass judgement? Again, are you GOD? If you are an Indian, then I am ashamed to say I am too…
You said Indians refuse to take changes, only know how to react to advice. So are you saying we shouldn’t follow any advice? Sharpen not your weapon but your wisdom…You are advicing here too…What shall I do now? Ignore you?
Stop talking about Indians being this and that. Look in your own backyard. I am sure there is a lot of rubbish to be cleaned there too!
And my dear dear Rina,
“the wife is *****..all goundens, vatti business magnets- dont eva give out blood sucking vatti, coz tis wat happens ..karma hits back”
Banks give out loans on condition too…only it’s not called vatti, it’s called interest. It’s pretty painful to pay too. If you dont, you are declared bankrupt and your properties seized. Same goes for credit card bills. I don’t see karma hitting them…I assume karma is pretty selective when it chooses it’s victims?
You seem pretty happy that they are in trouble. Good for you but don’t forget, karma is lurking nearby. You feel good for someone else’s downfall, you know what’s coming next 🙂
p/s: Echoing poobalan’s comments, let’s talk about the scholarships and education info now, shall we? Enough about murders, it’s not going to help in your daily life. Thanks poobalan for the excellent blog, it was extremely useful when my cousin sister needed help with her tertiery education.

Note: 50 % of 1.7 million Indians residing in Malaysia, not India 😀
everywhere crime takes place. More so nowadays. The urge for money , lust , gratifcation had taken a different height. Banting mass murder is no different. Be it Indian, Malay or Chinese….the killings will carry on.
I am not a hypocrite to say that indians are the less fortunate in Malaysia but i media, attentions and eyes have start to question the indians purpose in Malaysia. Lets face it though minority compared to the others, the records seems to take for the worse.
