‘Have exco man for non-Muslims’
BATU GAJAH: The new state executive council should include a new portfolio to oversee the welfare and religious affairs of non-Muslims in Perak, Ipoh Barat MP M. Kulasegaran said.
Kulasegaran, who is also DAP vice-chairman, said the new portfolio is to identify problems and needs of minority communities in the state. “The Indians, Chinese and Orang Asli have their own cultural and religious values,” he said yesterday at a Pangguni Uthiram celebration at the Sri Subramaniyar Temple here.
“It will be easier for the government to address the people’s grouses with regard to land titles and religious matters,” he added.
Kulasegaran said he had proposed the portfolio to his party leaders and hoped the matter would be brought up with Perak Mentri Besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin.
