Will the indian community give SV a birthday present or heap misery on him by giving a trashing in the elections?

And what is this new spin that the party has been negotiating in the last six months into uplifting economic status of the Indians. Shouldn’t it be the last 3 months, after November 25th?

KUALA LUMPUR: MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu hopes to have a double celebration on polling day.

On March 8, he hopes to celebrate his 72nd birthday and the victory of his party for retaining all its nine parliamentary and 19 state seats.

This is the first time that Samy Vellu who has been contesting in Sungai Siput since 1974, would go to the polls on his birthday.

Samy Vellu, who is also the Works Minister, said the party would have a refreshing look with the fielding of new candidates to inject dynamism and provide a new vision in MIC.

He said in the last six months, the party had negotiated with the government to look into uplifting the economic status of the Indian community.

“We are glad that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak have given their commitment,” he said.
