no consensus from BN Youth on HINDRAF 5

While the focus was on “is-it-an-apology-or-not” from Hishamuddin over the keris display, I was attracted to what Vigneswaran said on the discussion about HINDRAF ISA detainees. According to him, no consensus was attained. He said he explained MIC’s stand during the BN Youth meeting. As far as I can recall, MIC, MCA, Gerakan have called for the detainees’ release. Not sure on stand of parties from East Malaysia, and I don’t see a reason for them to oppose. That leave only one culprit. No prizes for guessing why consensus was not reached. Does this mean that the rest of them are there just to make numbers, as we suspected all along?

Reaching a consensus is easy. They can choose to agree, disagree, leave it to PM or any other decision.  This also cannot do?

When met after the meeting, MIC Youth head SA Vigneswaran reiterated the movement’s call for the government to review the Internal Security Act (ISA) detention of five Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) leaders.

Vigneswaran explained that while the initial arrest was warranted, the longer the issue (their detention) persists the worse it will be for MIC. “People on the ground think that they (Hindraf 5) were punished for voicing their sentiments.

“For 50 years, MIC and BN have been solving the community’s problems. But because of this detention, all our service has gone down the drain,” said Vigneswaran.

But while the MIC youth leader explained their stand on the issue at the BN Youth meeting, no consensus was reached on the matter.
