Wow! this would be some sort of record I guess!

8th postponement of inquest into detainee’s death
KUALA LUMPUR: The inquest into the death of Ulaganathan Muniandy was postponed for the eighth time yesterday, raising the concern of Suara Rakyat Malaysia (Suaram).
Counsel James Khong, who is holding a watching brief for the family, urged the magistrate to speed up the inquest as it had been four years since Ulaganathan died in police custody.Yesterday, the deputy public prosecutor and all the witnesses did not show up, Khong said in a statement issued through Suaram.

He said the previous hearing on Feb 29 was postponed for the same reason, while the first five hearings were not held following applications for postponement by the DPP.

Ulaganathan was detained under the Emergency Ordinance on May 12, 2003, at the Kajang police station, where he died on July 21.
The Kajang Hospital concluded that his cause of death “cannot be determined”, although his family suspected foul play.

The next inquest hearing is scheduled for July 22.

Well there is a simple way to prevent such problems….don’t get involved in crime in the fist place.

Parents, instead of wasting your time in such unfruitful activities, do something pro-active by monitoring and guiding you kids to be good citizen.

How many Indian youths I have seen that parents claim to be pure as driven snow but in actual fact, brutal gangsters and criminals.

Sometimes I am ashamed to be Indians due to all these criminals. You know many Chinese have this phobia against indian youths because so many times they have seen our “veerans” engaging in brutal and criminal acts.

i guess stereoptyping still exists. many malaysians also have phobia that chinese businesses cheat their customers, while malays youth are usually mat rempits and malay girls are not so innocent young things. i can go on and on, but i think you would have gotten the picture. i don’t mean to say all indian youths are spritual and peaceful, god-fearing, innocent, and patient people. i was even mugged by two guys once. but that does mean every youth who wears “jeans koyak” and tatoos on the arms are potential rapists and gun-totting drug dealers.

anyway killer, you did not provide a solution the specific problem – continuous postponement of the case.

      Dear Poobalan,

There are thousands of cases waiting to be heard in our courts for years. In many cases urgent and genuine ones. I would hardly waste my time on a loser and a taint to the society like this Ulaganthan.

BTW I do not think every Indian youth as a criminal for I do not believe in profiling or pre-judging people. But go to any Tamil movies and you will get my point loud and clear.

I strongly belief in reforming our youths and the ones in school, thus my social activities very much focused on this area. Even in my working place I am trying to help, not just indians but also the Malay youths. In most cases, the blame should be on the parents.

You would not believe some of my experiences in dealing with school kids and youths….

  4. the problem here is why the case postponed 8th times…not indian youth is frightening others…
    please get the point first…

Yes, the number of postponements look unusual and the delays are unacceptable. I am not a lawyer but this is not something uncommon with our legal system. However I could be wrong….any lawyers here who can enlighten us (but not lawyer buruk) ?

However, as I had said, this is not something we should lose our sleep over.

he should be considered innocent until proven guilty”

Yo Maya, i agree with you. Just that I disagree on focusing the community efforts on someone who obvious has not contributed in any positive way to the community. On the contrary, he has brought shame upon himself, his family and the community by getting himself arrested under the Emergency Ordinance.

Yes sir, there are many many cases pending, but for each of the people concerned, it is a critical situation. Pending cases by itself merits a serious discussion. But if a case is being postponed 8 times, then surely something is wrong.

Hmmm….what would one expect from Tamil movies? Chinese gangsters or Malay mat rempits? I’m sure the triad movies that gets out of East Asia are innocent ones suitable for wholesome family entertainment 🙂

BTW, you always mention about your social activities. Perhaps you can share with the readers some details. Maybe some of them may want to help as well in reforming the youths and students. My blog is ever available to post your articles if needed to.

My social activities ? Well, I have involved in these for many many years even from my schooling days. I have always focusing on school kids and youths. I am not a member of any NGOs or political parties but contribute as an individual. Normally I work with other organisations like YSS, MIC, MHS, and other NGOs.

However, I am intending to start a group of like-minded people to focus sorely on school kids and drop outs rather than helping them on projects basis as these NGOs have a wide portfolio. The problem is the attitude of our Indians. Many of our successful people not keen to help or commit their time.

However, I am determined in my objectives and I am sure I will get this group started soon.

the beauty of our judisciary is that as long as you are part of rulling force you could be exempted from punishment…… well we know the tons of
under carpet hidden cases ….. one burst….the lingam video…and yesterday one judge poured allegation against TDM .
