Well, looks like MP for Kapar, Manikavasagam has a bigger problem on his hands. Remember his statements on police officer Kumaran, regarding death of actress Sujatha?Kumaran made a civil suit against Manikavasagam for RM10 million. He claimed that on Aug 2 last year, Manikasavagam issued a press
statement containing defamatory and false allegations which had caused serious damage to his credibility as a senior police officer.

The high court (presided by judge Datuk Abdul Wahab Patail) dismissed  Manikasavagam’s appeal to set aside the deputy registrar’s decision rejecting his application to strike out the suit.

If Manikavasagam loses the case, a by-election is imminent.

I don’t think so…I believe if only if a person is convicted under criminal law and jailed, he/she will have to vacate the seat. If I am not mistaken, this does not apply to civil cases like this. In any case, we should let Mani to enjoy his one term as MP as he would probably won’t even get to stand the next time.

I did highlight this issue some months back and Mani is indeed in a big trouble because the havoc he created in order to under MIC and BN and made many highly irresponsible statements and stunts. People who supported him should read those news to find out what a low-class politician Mani actually is. Well, I think he is in the right party at least, the PKR is another party with street thug mentality.

i thought any fine more than RM2000 also forces MP to vacate the seat. Maybe you are right, because civil case result is not considered as “fine”.
