TAMIL schools are allowed three extra days off for Deepavali this November, Tamil Nesan reported.

However, it said, schools wishing to have the additional holidays would have to first get an approval from the state education department.

The extra days would be given to schools that submit their applications, said the daily, quoting Malaya Tamil Schools Teachers Union national president P. Dharmalinggam.

The schools must replace the extra days that they had taken by holding classes on two Saturdays ? July 28 and Aug 11.
