Earlier, MIC did not clarify on its stand over the medium to be used for teaching of Science and Maths. After the final roundtable discussion, MIC representative said that they were still compiling feedback from the schools. Thursday evening, MIC issued statement that it will recommend to the cabinet that the subjects to be taught in Tamil, in line with the wishes and aspirations of Tamil school headmasters and parents. Samy Vellu announced this after the MIC CWC meeting.

So, that means MIC is supporting proposal number 3 from the seven proposals.

Samy Vellu said although he believed that it was good for the students, especially in Tamil schools to master the English language, “but I have to listen and heed the views and wishes of the Tamil school headmasters and parents”.

“They have a right to make their own decision. We can’t impose on them our views. It is a matter that concerns their children and students. As such, we will abide to their request.” he said.

He said the headmasters unanimously endorsed the teaching of Mathematics and Science in Tamil at a discussion organized by the MIC recently.

Samy Vellu said Tamil school students could pick up English when they enter secondary schools.

This is a step back…I am disappointed….Good example where politics take precedence over national interest.

Of all the non-Muslim political parties, only MIC had the guts to speak for English but now even they have chickened out…

This is the problem when we have too many race school.
If we compare to other country (ex Tamil nadu) all care about business language but in here we only are about mother language and do not think the needs in the future
How many book is writen in Tamil or Maly in order for student to review thier needs
Most od the books are writen in English and when we wnat to review , it is easier then was writen in Tamil

Think about the needs and not about the situtaion

Let be more pratical and think out of box

    Indian for Tamil
    Malay for Bahasa
    Chinese for Chinese
    Others for English

    Ahoooi very very complicated ma

The best option is cascade all in … English
Primary in mother langguage then when enter secondary will be Malay
then when go to colleage will be in English
Once start work , we will left behind (exp for private sector and overseas based companies)
Finaly what the learn will be not same as what they will faced the global market

    Stick to English
Do not mis-interpret the needs and sensetive issue
Education has nothing to be link with race sensentive issue
