KUALA LUMPUR: About 10,000 people are expected to converge at the British High Commission on Nov 25 to petition the Queen of England to support a suit they filed recently.
The group will be led by the Hindu Rights Action Force (HINDRAF), which on Aug 30 filed a class-action suit against the British government for bringing Indians to Malaysia as indentured labourers and exploiting them for 150 years and thereafter failing to protect the minority Indians rights in the federal constitution when independence was granted. The sum sought was US$4 trillion (RM14 trillion) — or US$1 million for every Indian currently residing in Malaysia.
P. Waytha Moorthy, the lawyer who filed the suit, said HINDRAF was also seeking an unspecified sum in damages "for all the pain and suffering of generations of Indians in Malaysia over the years". "The cost of the suit is about RM5 million, as estimated by our British solicitors and barristers.
"Malaysian Indians are poor and cannot afford the cost, so we are appealing to the Queen to appoint her Queen's Counsel and solicitors to represent the minority Indians," said Waytha.
He said the suit was not a demonstration or a rally. "We just want to petition the Queen's help and we want the British to know that Indians here are supporting this suit."
The British High Commission said it was aware of the petition and would consider it. "However, Nov 25 is a Sunday and the commission will be closed. I don't know whom they will be giving the petition to," said its political and press affairs adviser Abdul Rashid Hussein.
HINDRAF representatives met Cheras police yesterday to apply for a permit to hold the gathering. The district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Amir Mohd Hashim, said police had not made a decision on the application. "We are studying the situation," he said.

The Indians in Malaysia are in much better situation than their counterparts in India. Though we could certainly do with more help and support, certainly I would rather stay here than go back to the sub-continent.
We being a small community, must strategize on how we can get what is rightfully ours. Learn from the Chinese.
I think the purpose of HINDRAF’s action is to get international or at least regional attention. It has been well-documented that many legal experts have said that the suit will be rejected.
I’m not sure who brought the idea of “going back” to india. Why should anyone “go back”? We are all malaysian and sons/daughters of this soil, right? If there’s any comparison to be made, we should compare with fellow Asean countries who have similar population like us.

Asnwer:The Indians are doing something usefull by standing for their rights and uniting all the indians as one to stand together. Thats what HINDRAF is doing on helping the other Indians.
Question is what are you doing mr.killer about helping the Indians? what role are you playing? if your are not doing anything, at least do not insult others who is doing something.
Since you just call HINDRAF and all the other Indians a bunch of morons.
so mr. killer, please let us know how we should strategize to get what is rightfully ours? If you really do have the best strategy, which the HINDRAF didn think of. Please share it. Your ideas are really appreciated.

I agree indians in malaysia has been marginalised and being brought down to their knees all these while…but its not the problem of british or UK government but its the present government problem…especially UMNO controlled BN….the MCA and MIC are not doing anything much in BN but being the scapegoat of UMNO in fighting the causes or their respective race…and talk about samy vellu, he is just another useless fellow sitting in the government but not doing much to help the indian community….watever he does is just from top surface layer, but deep down in the community, are not benefitting much from his so called help….

Hindraf not aiming for the 4 Trilion USD. What they want is Justice. Hindraf Cannot Fight with Local Authorities because they donnu how to use the LAW.

I still don’t get it… why Indians are still so dumb to vote for MIC / BN in the first place? At a certain extent I admire HINDRAF’s action. But I feel that we should ammend our unity first, start with adjusting things within the political party.
Look at the current reality now… MIC and HINDRAF are not working together (and they will not anyway) – so, technically speaking there is no unity at all.
if HINDRAF is not fighting for USD 14 trillion, then why is it that in the news this is being mentioned?? if this is a wrong statement (if lets say government’s media are manipulating the issue into a way that would favour them), then why are the HINDRAF reps are not saying anything about it…atleast they shud at least mention that its not about money is wat they are going for…
I have been to one of the HINDRAF gathering recently….and I believe the person who spoked there mentioned this thing and everything regarding the english ppl and how indians have been misused all…bla bla bla…
